As the head of Marketing & Strategy function at Ericsson India Pvt. Ltd., P Balaji is responsible for driving marketing, strategy formulation & execution, Communications, and Government Affairs.
In his current role, he is not only a key contributor in the formulation of Ericsson’s global strategy but has also pioneered Ericsson’s foray into several engaging and innovative projects, most notably the “Gramjyoti” project - illustrating the role of mobile broadband as a prime catalyst for inclusive growth, especially in rural India. His initiatives have won him accolades and have helped Ericsson strengthen its technology and industry leadership in India.
In a career spanning nearly two decades in the area of Telecom & IT, Balaji has held senior leadership positions in several companies such as Lucent Technologies, AT&T and start up ventures of the TATA Group across diverse functions including sales, marketing, strategy, and product management.
As an industry professional, Balaji also manages Ericsson’s reputation and brand positioning with major stakeholders including the media, customers and industry bodies. He has chaired and has been a member of several taskforces/expert groups set up by the Govt. of India including the Dept. of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Planning Commission on policy matters. He has also been a member of the National Council for CII and ASSOCHAM and a Co-Chairman of the CII and ASSOCHAM convergence/telecom national sub-committees. He is the past President of Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA) and the Northern Region Chairman of the Telecom Export Promotion Council.
Balaji holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from IIT Roorkee. He is also a Post Graduate in Management from IIM Ahmedabad. Besides being a meritorious student, he is also an avid sportsman with a keen interest in Tennis and long distance running.
